Want to know the easiest way to add some style to your speech room? Easy….bulletin boards! We are here today with Maggie Anna, and we are just loving her “ocean” themed speechie space!
The image above shows her main bulletin board which is covered with a mottled paper that she found on eBay. We think that it emulates the ocean floor beautifully.
To go with the theme of being “Caught with Good Speech & Language Skills”, Maggie Anna added some simple netting that can be found at Party City or even the Dollar Store (cost is about $5).
Below is a smaller board that she’s created without the need for another bulletin board. This clever SLP simply taped a piece of the backing paper onto the wall. Then she cut a smaller piece and affixed it to the top to emulate ocean waves!
Decoration that doubles as organization is always a plus for busy educators! Using a hanging file folder she purchased at the Lakeshore Learning Teacher Store, Maggie Anna found a simple but efficient way to store pertinent information on each student.
When they first enter the room, the student pulls their own folder and hands in their data sheets. In return they get a sticker on their sticker chart that is also contained in their unique file.
This also works to easily organize any homework sheets or other information at the beginning of the day. No more rushing around at the last minute trying to get everything together (we’ve all been there!)
This smaller board helps to tie it all together. Using a matching colored backing and adorable ocean themed border, she welcomes her students each day into her magical underwater realm.
